The 1960 Topps baseball card release is well known among hobbyists for its strong crop of rookie cards, most notably that of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski and fellow Cooperstown inductee Willie McCovey, as well as the usual and expected plethora of period stars. The Topps decision-makers reverted to the horizontal format not seen since 1956, with the exception of certain multi-player cards, which would turn out to be the final utilization of that design. A close-up, full-color portrait shot occupies about 60% of the obverse surface, with a smaller black and white image nestled beside it and a rather large, colored nameplate featuring players' names lettered in alternating colors. Offered here is a stunning high-grade complete set, 572 cards in all, each card graded NM/MT or better. In all, 38 cards are graded PSA 9 as follows - #15, 58, 69, 84, 93, 134, 137, 149, 160 Rival All-Stars (Mantle/Boyer), 201, 202, 215, 218, 225, 226, 231, 233, 236, 241, 251, 252, 253, 260, 265, 271, 278, 295 Hodges, 338, 381, 393, 399, 411, 415, 423, 424, 484, 559 Aparicio, and 565 Maris. Every other card in the set, 534 in all, is graded PSA 8 with keys being #10 Banks, 73 Gibson, 148 Yastrzemski RC, 200 Mays, 250 Musial, 300 Aaron, 316 McCovey RC, 326 Clemente, 350 Mantle, 377 Maris, and 563 Mantle AS.
