Presented is a MINT example of Sandy Koufax's borderless 1960 Morrell Meats card, only the second such example to earn the coveted PSA 9 grade with none graded higher. Mile High Card Company offered the other PSA 9 for sale about 10 years ago when it stood as the only one in existence, with this one having been graded and slabbed in PSA's new holder within the last few months. To further illustrate how newsworthy this is, consider that the whole 12-card series has only yielded a total of three PSA 9's and one PSA 10 (Don Drysdale) out of over 600 submissions, a testimonial as to how truly fortuitous this offering is to any advanced collector. The fact that Koufax is even in the set speaks volumes about the high hopes the Dodgers still had for their lefty "bonus baby" who, after five seasons, still hadn't lived up to expectations. But Koufax went on a dominant six-year run from 1961-1966 that few in major league history can match, halted abruptly by an arthritic elbow that forced his retirement. The card is virtually perfect, with no traces of chipping along the edges and even at the extreme tips, while the image of Koufax is one of the most powerful ever presented on a trading card. The reverse of the card is almost as condition-sensitive as the front with the bright white canvas usually falling victim to heavy staining, but this example doesn't yield any more than minor discoloration at the bottom horizontal edge, seemingly the only obstacle to the magical GEM MINT grade and perhaps a flirtation with a six figure value. If you're an advanced Koufax collector or have an appreciation for something that is even tougher than his coveted 1955 Topps rookie card, you should make a strong effort to add this one to your collection.
