Recently graded PSA 6 EX/MT and brand new to the hobby. Offered is a pack-fresh example of one of the most coveted hockey cards ever produced, the 1958 Topps rookie issue of "The Golden Jet," Bobby Hull, arguably the fastest and greatest left winger to ever skate the frozen pond. NM/MT corners join NM/MT+ to MINT edges around a blistering NM image that self-evidently favors the southern border, no doubt accounting for the seemingly harsh but technically accurate grade from the cardboard mavens at PSA. An incisive perimeter and a perfectly registered image with intensely rich, pack-fresh colors throughout are the obvious highlights, but equally as impressive, and perhaps even more so, is the predominant cleanliness of Bobby's burgundy Black Hawks jersey, which typically shows severely advanced traces of print, almost as if the Topps photographers had captured the then 19-year old in the midst of a veritable blizzard. Importantly, less than 200 total examples of this key HOF rookie issue have ever surfaced at PSA--Topps produced exponentially fewer hockey cards in the 1950s than they did baseball and football cards--and the offered specimen ranks among the top 36% of those scant few on record and is no doubt one of the most aesthetically pleasing examples we've ever encountered!
