Many advanced gridiron collectors view the 1958 Topps Jim Brown rookie card in the same way that baseball card collectors revere the 1952 Topps Mantle. While the Brown card doesn't compare pricewise at each given level, it's still a pricey venture in high grade given its extreme popularity and well-documented condition problems, often plagued by poor centering or stray print, or both. The featured card largely sidesteps both of those pitfalls to deliver a stunning PSA 8 assessment that is surpassed by just 11 others from a massive total population of almost 3,500. Displaying expected NM/MT corners with the upper right and lower left endpoints perhaps even a little better, the near-perfect centering, minimal print dust on the black backdrop and a slight rough cut around the perimeter make it a worthy example for the grade. An unusually challenging 1950's era "Top 200 Sports Card" that would proudly serve as the key to any world-class assemblage.
