One of the first NBA superstars at point guard, Boston's Bob Cousy led the league in assists for eight consecutive seasons while also averaging almost 20 points per game, leading the Celtics to five straight championships and six over a seven-year span. As the first mainstream basketball set since the 1948 Bowman collection, this 1957 Topps example of Cousy is his rookie card although he was already the reigning league MVP with seven seasons to his credit. The card displays wonderful color, without the usual stray overprint and is centered very well, especially by the standards of the issue. The perimeter also appears superior to the BVG 7 NM grade. An elite-level example of a key rookie card.
1957 Topps #17 Bob Cousy BVG 7 NM
