While it may not have quite the swagger as an unopened 1952 Topps baseball wax pack, the 1957 Topps Basketball wax pack does come dangerously close. As the first mainstream basketball set since Bowman's attempt in 1948, the collection is loaded with "rookie" cards, 20 of which feature players that became Hall of Famers. Of course, the grand prize of the set is the debut card of Bill Russell, considered by many to be the most important card ever produced of the sport. The featured unopened five cent wax pack is graded GAI 6.5 and is absolutely fantastic with the brilliant blue, red, white, black and yellow colors on the wrapper retaining every bit of boldness that first appeared over 60 years ago. Topps made some changes that came about from overproducing the 1952 Topps baseball series, becoming far more cost conscious in the production of their inaugural basketball series. Packs such as the one featured here are far more scarce are are seldom seen for sale. If you're a collector of unopened material, this beauty will be one of the rarest gems!
