Had Ted Williams been blessed with the opportunity to play for the New York Yankees, he might be the most beloved baseball player in history. As it stands, "Teddy Ballgame" didn't do too badly for himself. Here's Williams on his 1956 Topps card, coming off of a season where he played only 98 games but managed 28 homers and a .356 batting average; not bad for a 37-year old. Positioned slightly toward the horizontal left edge, the card earns a PSA 8 grade from its sharp NM/MT endpoints, tremendous central image color, and clean white back that amplifies the red, green, and black printing. This is exactly the kind of high-quality specimen that any discerning vintage set-builder is looking for.
