Arguably the most popular Topps rookie card of the 1950s, the featured pasteboard debut of Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente is graded PSA 8. In the past, the Clemente RC has been paired with the premier appearances of Sandy Koufax and Harmon Killebrew, billing them as "the big three" that pace the 1955 Topps set. But that characterization no longer applies as Clemente's increasing popularity has moved his 1955 Topps card to the forefront of baseball card collecting, elevating it to a status that puts it in the same company as the 1951 Bowman and 1952 Topps Mantle cards. Centered slightly to the right of center horizontally but well within specifications for a NM/MT grade, one can't help but notice the clearly superior central image quality, bursting forth with clean and robust red and green color that magnifies the pure whiteness of the border. Even the reverse side has stronger than usual red and green print, while three of the four corners easily surpass PSA's lofty standards and approach the next highest grading tier. One of the most appealing Clemente rookie cards we've ever seen for the grade, and with prices reaching record levels at virtually every new offering, this is the time to get it while it's still possible.
