At first, it might come as a surprise to learn that Sandy Koufax's coveted 1955 Topps rookie card merits distinction as the most submitted 1950s era Topps rookie issue on record at PSA. But considering the popularity of both Koufax and the 1955 Topps set, it begins to seem a lot more plausible. Presented before you is a stunning example of Koufax's Topps debut that, at PSA 8.5, easily ranks within the top 10% of all specimens submitted to PSA, over 4,500 of them. The difference between an 8.5 and a 9 is often as simple as the mood of the grader at that particular moment, and this beauty appears to have all the elements of a MINT card with the slightest centering preference toward the left horizontal edge, which is still within PSA 9 limits. The central image glows with green, red and blue pigment in support of the radiant yellow backdrop, virtually free of the usual stray print dots. MINT corners join delightfully chip-free MINT+ edges on all sides with a marginally rough-cut right edge. Here's your chance to acquire an example of Sandy's celebrated rookie that surpasses the usual NM/MT level.
1955 Topps #123 Sandy Koufax PSA 8.5 NM/MT+
