Perhaps this day in Boston Red Sox history provided inspiration for the character of Roy Hobbs in The Natural, but as part of a 1954 doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, Hall of Famer Ted Williams pounded out 8 hits in 9 at-bats, including two homers, while driving in seven. Ironically, the Red Sox were swept. This ticket stub is from that twinbill, one of the greatest performances of any player on any day. PSA authenticated.
