Featured is without hesitation one of the more alluring and awe inspiring complete PSA Set Registry Master 1950's sets that we have ever offered, and boasts as being the #2 All-Time Finest 1954 Bowman PSA Set Registry Set. The featured collection sports an amazing 8.69 GPA, being 100% complete and finishing a minuscule .002 behind the #1 set. With its subtle pastel colors as well as many head shots of the greats of the game at the time of issue, the '54 Bowman release has long been a favorite of many enthusiasts. Looking at the issue from the outside in, it appears as though in may not be as challenging to complete in high grade as some of its contemporaries, but nothing could be further from the truth. The set, when assembled with the 40 much more elusive variations becomes an absolute bear. The featured accumulation includes every one of the variations, including the challenging #66 Ted Williams card. Bowman Gum Company issued the set with the iconic war hero and leader of the Boston Red Sox included, even though it was experiencing contractual issues with the enigmatic star, who was under contract with the upstart and hard-charging Topps Gum Company. At the insistence of Topps' attorneys, Bowman had to pull from production the pasteboard featuring Williams, which ultimately created one of the more elusive and challenging cards of the 1950's. The offered set includes an amazing 2 PSA 10's, 170 PSA 9's, 31 PSA 8.5's, 57 PSA 8's and only 5 PSA 7's. When viewing the contents of this exceptional offering it becomes near blase, as one could easily assume that the exercise of putting together such a collection may be easy. All of that can quickly be dispelled when any enthusiast makes even a cursory viewing of the PSA "Pop Reports" and finds that many of the exceptionally low pop singles, including many 1/1's, are housed within this terrific set.
