Following their successful inaugural effort into the baseball card market, the Topps Company produced a 1953 baseball set with colorful and detailed artwork that easily topped their first offering. The presented set is four cards from completion (#225, 244 Mays, 246 and 251) and rates approximately 5% NM or better, 20% EX/MT, 30% EX, 15% VG/EX, 25% VG and 5% lower with the high-series slightly higher overall in quality. There are about 30 extra cards that contain both black and white printing variations and about 90 of the cards have slight writing on the reverse, notably the cards of Mantle, Podres, Campanella, Martin, Rizzuto, Gilliam, Black, Kluszewski and others. Ten key cards are PSA graded: #37 Mathews PSA 4, 54 Feller PSA 6.5, 82 Mantle PSA 3 (MK), 125 D. Williams PSA 3, 191 Kiner PSA 5.5, 207 Ford PSA 3, 220 Paige PSA 3.5, 228 Newhouser PSA 6, 249 O'Brien PSA 7 and 263 Podres PSA 5 (MK). Other key cards are #1 J.
