Bowman “Pentastar” cello boxes were used as generic display boxes whenever a new series, usually non-sport, was released. The beautiful yellow and red container offered here housed cello packs from the NBC TV/Radio Stars Series in 1953. The box appears very strong and study, but does have a small tear on one side, with writing on the top and one side that says “Store S” and a piece of masking tape with “50” written on it. The free standing top fits snuggly on the bottom half, and tape residue on each long side of the box is evident, likely the way it was shipped to stores in the 1950s.
