It was only a matter of time until baseball card manufacturers ditched the black and white images or artist's renderings for actual color photographs and the majesty of the 1953 Bowman Color set made sure it was a concept that was here to stay. Offered is an incredible example of Mickey Mantle, graded PSA 6 but looking every bit the part of a specimen graded NM/MT. A very slight shift toward the northeast is negated by a brilliant central image, bone-white border, and endpoints that are well in advance of the mere EX/MT assessment. A pleasing rough-cut lines the vertical edges and the reverse matches the pack-freshness of the front, exhibiting a very slight tone to it but super bright and clean. As it stands, it's the finest example we've ever seen for the grade, but then again, we strongly disagree with the grade.
