Already listed in the high-number series, just imagine what prices would look like if Mickey Mantle was positioned as the last card of the set. Well, that isn't the case as Topps chose to have Mantle lead off the high-number run at card #311 and placed rookie and future Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews in the extremely condition-sensitive position of card #407. The featured collectible matches the '52 Topps Mantle in this auction at the grade of PSA 4, providing the opportunity for an ambitious lower to mid-grade set builder the opportunity to snag the two centerpiece cards at the same time with a pair of winning bids. The centering shows an obvious though relatively mild preference to the left edge while the surface comes through with deep bold color and no apparent issues save for some slight wear around the perimeter. A terrific example for the grade!
