The card of Mickey Mantle is the star of the 1952 Topps collection, but go one further and you've got perhaps the 2nd most recognized and coveted card in the set. It seems fitting that the legendary Jackie Robinson should immediately follow the iconic baseball card of Mickey Mantle in the 1952 Topps high-number sequence, having not only broken the color barrier for many athletes that followed over the years but also coming off a career-high of 19 homers (which he would repeat in 1952) and posting a batting average above .300 for the third straight time in what would amount to six consecutive seasons. Offering well better than average centering for the issue, this PSA 5 graded example seems accurately graded technically but certainly offers eye-appeal not usually encountered at this mid-grade. The image of Robinson, the depth of the deep red background, and the problem-free reverse all combine to make this a very satisfying example for any collector looking for a '52 Topps Jackie at this grade level.
