Until about 2006, the "black star" overprint on the reverse of the 1952 Tops #307 Frank Campos card was virtually unknown and now has been formally recognized and listed by The Standard Catalog. Upon discovery, 1952 Topps collectors and set builders were sent scurrying to their collections, hoping to find that magical black star like children unwrapping a Wonka bar in search of the golden ticket. Most of those kids came away with just a handful of chocolate, and '52 Topps Campos owners didn't seem to fare any better. But for collectors pushing for supremacy on the 1952 Topps Master set, here's the game changer you've been looking for. Exceptionally well-centered with four corners that each appear commensurate with a grade of NM/MT, this example is one of 6 to achieve the highest grade on record at PSA. And yeah, that black star overprint really does call your name, doesn't it? There's no telling how incredibly rare this variation is, but given that PSA has graded less than 100, suffice it to say that opportunities like this are going to be few and far between.
