Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. In the Spring of 1952 as this card was being freed from its wax pack confinement by youngsters all over the country Mickey Mantle was standing at the forefront of the game poised to ascend to the greatness that had been predicted of him. Viewing this immense treasure will cause most enthusiasts heart rate to quicken a pace and may make their hands slightly wet with sweat. The obverse of this card offers a transport to another generation where everyday life was conducted at a slower pace and neighbors trusted neighbors and everyone left their doors unlocked. Four powerfully NM/MT to NM/MT+ corners frame this regal pasteboard that oozes charisma with a prince like charm. The surface is awash with a pleasing palate of deep color that provides a steel blue Yankee hat atop the young sluggers head and a pristine pinstriped jersey with the top of the intertwined NY visible above Mickey's crossed arms. The flesh tones of the phenoms face are elevated when set against the battleship gray stairs behind the great Yankee. The centering is presented as a pure white balanced border that frames the interior image elegantly. The reverse offers a hobbyist a look into collecting of a generation past with a sullen slate gray offering a perfect backdrop to the deeply black inked biography of the "Commerce Comet" A stunning and alluring example offered in satisfying strong NM/MT+ condition.
