Presented is the hobby's second-finest example of "Slingin' Sammy" Baugh's challenging 1952 Bowman Large issue, recently graded NM/MT+ 8.5 by PSA with no competitors in its advanced class and just one example graded higher. One of seventeen players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in its charter class of 1963, Sammy ranks as one of the most honored players in gridiron history, and was recently named "The Most Versatile Player" of all-time by the NFL Network in 2007. The offered example of Sammy's celebrated '52 Bowman Large issue showcases impressively accurate centering for the issue, along with NM/MT+ to MINT qualities in all facets, just missing qualification for a grade of MINT 9 overall. MINT top right and bottom left corners combine with marginally inferior opposite corners to join MINT edges on all sides but the mildly rough top boundary, which easily meets the requirements for the opined evaluation but falls just short of the next grading tier. Some insignificant periphery toning and some microscopic interior print counterbalance an otherwise pristine image, highlighted by brilliant shades of autumnal orange, red, and gold, and accented by pixel-perfect registration. A true borderline MINT 9!
