With all the pomp and circumstance that surrounds the iconic 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card, collectors sometimes overlook the fact that it isn't his true rookie card. Sure, the importance of his appearance in the first Topps set and the fact that it's a high number must be taken into account, but the 1951 Bowman issue of Mantle is really where it all begins! One glance at the offered PSA 6 specimen creates a feeling of excitement that overwhelms both the beginner and expert collector alike. The horizontal image of the baby-faced kid from Oklahoma mildly favors the horizontal east edge but the surface is primarily free of the usual stray print with the central image boasting a stunning, sharply printed likeness that is highlighted by deep, bold colors. A strong EX/MT example of this exceptionally important rookie card.
