Selected in the 20th round of the 1947 NFL Draft, Tom Landry proved to be a valuable asset to the New York Giants as long as he wasn't taking the snaps from under center. In his 7 seasons with the Giants, he proved to be an excellent defensive back, snagging 32 career interceptions, as well as one of the better punters in the league. But as a quarterback, he completed just 11 of 47 passes while throwing 7 interceptions for a 9.8 percent quarterback rating. No one would have predicted 60 years ago that his 1951 Bowman rookie card would one day be the key card to the set, but 250 lifetime victories and two Super Bowl Championships as a head coach has a way of changing one's perspective. And with just 9 total specimens from the entire 1951 Bowman collection earning a grade of PSA 10 out of over 17,500 total submissions, your perspective for the offered example should be one of total shock and awe! While easily the most PSA submitted card in the series, only one other PSA 10 exists to match this intense beauty, perfectly presented with amazing color and a factory-fresh perimeter that simple does not exist for all but a handful of elite specimens. Glistening, clean surfaces and superior blue and red print provide on the reverse the final exclamation points to this extraordinary cardboard jewel. Considering the depth of Landry’s meticulous coaching methodologies, this miraculous card is a fitting representation of the iconic Hall of Fame coach and the perfect testament to his legacy.
