The post-career tribute cards of Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner are extremely popular pieces in the 1948 Leaf series, but the real payoff for collectors was the bevy of Hall of Famers making their debut, most of whom had been in the league for several years but, due to the war, never appeared on a card since all mainstream sets had been halted. The best of the rookie cards is the official introduction of Stan Musial, which sports a robust blue backdrop enveloping the image of Stan in his white uniform with red accents and gold thumping stick. Musial was in his 6th season when his rookie card was released but he had already laid claim to three National League batting titles and also led the league in both doubles and triples at the same time on three different occasions. This one is reasonably well-centered, typically positioned mildly toward the right edge but within the specifications for the grade, with true NM/MT endpoints if not slightly better. A problem-free reverse consisting of a slate gray canvas and deep black print seals the deal. Every advanced collection need an elite level Stan Musial RC like the one offered here!
