With a tribute card to Babe Ruth and rookie cards of Stan Musial and Satchel Paige appearing within the first 10 cards of the series, in addition to the historic debut appearance of Jackie Robinson and popular issues of Honus Wagner and Ted Williams later on in the set, it really speaks volumes that Leaf opened their 1948 collection with Joe DiMaggio in the pole position. And DiMaggio didn't disappoint, leading the American League in home runs and runs batted in that year. The featured collectible grades at SGC 88 NM/MT 8, surpassed by one lone specimen positioned a half-point higher, and offers strong NM/MT top corners and NM/MT+ lower endpoints as well as a nearly perfectly focused and framed image of the pride of the Yankees. As many '48 Leaf experts know, the depth and shade of the colors can vary widely from one card to another, and this card offers uncommonly deep pigments of bold green and red, along with a well-printed and problem-free reverse. A stunning card that makes for an extremely impressive start to any top notch '48 Leaf set.
