The one and only "Yankee Clipper" is the featured subject of the offered 1948 Leaf card, graded EX/MT+ 6.5 by PSA. It's no surprise that the Leaf Gum Company would give DiMaggio the pole position on its inaugural release, as by this time he had certainly proven himself to be among the best ever to play the game. The presented example shows the immortal Yankee in tremendous clarity, typically shifted toward the lower-left but possessing a full-print lime green backdrop, a refreshing change from the print-deprived green-yellow and yellow backgrounds that appear on so many specimens. Above-grade endpoints push the card to almost NM status, though it probably deserves that extra half-point. An eye-pleasing example of Leaf's first baseball card!
