Whitey Lockman played outfield & first base for 15 seasons in the big leagues for the Giants, Cardinals, Orioles, and Reds. While possessing the strange combination of attributes; a left handed hitter, who threw right-handed, Lockman batted .341 in his rookie season of 1945. But, by the end of his career, Whitey would only once ever hit above .300 again. A prime example of his '48 short-printed Bowman rookie is offered for only those collectors seeking the best quality cards for their collection. We have for your review, a marvelously centered card which frames the young hitter's image gracefully swinging his lumber. All four corners of the pasteboard come to a razor-sharp point, and a clean reverse are just some of the many great qualities that lend to it's SGC 88 NM/MT grade.
