Emil Verban played 2nd base for the Cardinals, Phillies, Cubs, and Braves. His graceful play at the position earned him the nickname "The Antelope." He had recently been playing well enough to earn three consecutive All-Star berths at the time of production of this '48 Bowman baseball card. One of the tougher short-prints, the offered example exceeds expectations for it's SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 grade. Verban's well-framed image shows him turning a double play, something he did quite often in his seven year career on the diamond. All the corners come to a super-sharp point, and the back is clean with dark black printing. A nice addition to any high grade Bowman collection.
