William McCahan was a right-handed pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1946-1949. In September of 1947, he pitched a no-hitter against the Washington Senators. If not for a routine throwing error on a routine ground ball hit to Ferris Fain, William would have had a perfect game. Just months later, the Bowman Gum Company produced this offered baseball card of William, and carefully placed it in a pack of gum. Somehow, this pitcher's card avoided the bicycle spokes, and made it into an SGC 92 NM/MT 8.5 holder. Superior corners that come to a sharp point can only be topped by the near perfect framing of McCahan's youthful image, and flawless reverse.
