The offered card carries with it an historical significance, as the 1941 season would see "The Splendid Splinter" turn in an incredible .406 batting average to accompany his 37 home runs and 120 runs batted in. With a league-leading 147 walks, Williams had an unbelievable .553 on-base percentage, a major-league record that stood for over 60 years. Ironically, Williams did not win the MVP award that year, beaten out by Joe DiMaggio.
