Graded by PSA NM-MT 8. When the Kid emerged upon the major league scene in 1939, he was as brash as he was good. And he was good. As a 20 year old rookie, Ted led the league with 145 RBI's and 344 total bases. They are extraordinary numbers for such a young hitter. He hammered out 44 doubles, 11 triples and 31 homers, letting everyone know he was for real. During his rookie season, this 1939 Playball gum card was issued. Near perfect centering and four sharp corners surround the crisp image of Ted, an image so clear you can see the piercing look he gave those worried hurlers. The reverse is solidly struck, detailing Williams' future greatness. Only 11 examples are graded higher than this offered piece. A great example of Ted's rookie card.
