This is a 1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig #61 that has been graded PSA 8 NM/MT. It features thorough NM/MT corners at all points but the top right, which borders on MINT. The edges, likewise, are significantly above grade and bound on MINT. Importantly, there are no traces whatsoever of that unappealing reverse perimeter wear so common to Goudeys that actually cuts into the reverse surface and would almost certainly be considered paper loss on any other issue. The edges here are completely intact, and they're sharp and straight, to boot. While we're on the reverse, we might as well mention the fact that the characteristic green print, in which Lou famously promises members of the Knot Hole League of America that he'll "gladly write and answer any questions about the game," is very boldly impressed, with nary a trace of extraneous print throughout. The surface, finally, is also free of any immoderately extraneous print, and shows no features whatsoever that wouldn't be tolerated on a MINT example. Most impressive of all, however, is the color quality. Not only is the central image bold and accurately registered, but the colors throughout the front surface display perfect saturation, leaving no traces of that unappealing spottiness in the dark blues of the "Lou Gehrig says" banner, nor in his Yankee cap. Overall, this presentable example has been very accurately graded by PSA and is particularly clean for the grade.
