Graded PSA 8 NM/MT. For your bidding pleasure, offered is a 1934 Goudey example of the set's renowned #1 issue, Jimmy Foxx. Strong NM/MT+ corners at all points but the NM/MT bottom right confluence join equally incisive edges around a positively brilliant image of the home-run hitting prodigy that insignificantly favors the northwest corner, well within the bounds of the accurately opined grade from PSA. Both surfaces appear clean enough for significantly higher consideration. The front shows a minor blemish no larger than a pin-prick near the extreme upper left periphery, but that's it. No other extraneous marks whatsoever can be found on either surface. The resplendent reverse displays a smooth, pale, cream color to the stock, with absolutely no traces of toning whatsoever (an anomaly for the issue). The obverse, meanwhile, boasts one of the boldest and most precisely registered images we've ever seen on this famous Foxx issue. Even under magnification, each pixel of print is precisely aligned within the sharp outlines throughout the surface, and the bold colors, particularly the yellow, green, and blue background hues, show deep saturation, particularly in the lower field. Foxx is of course famous for becoming just the second player in history to hammer 500 home runs, and until Alex Rodgriguez hit a moonshot into the left field stands of Yankee stadium on August 4th, 2007, he was the youngest player to ever reach that defining milestone. Surpassed by just a single example on record at PSA, offered is a high-grade example of what is universally regarded as Jimmy's single most coveted card.
