A follow up to the 1933 Goudey series, lauded by many experts as the greatest baseball card set ever produced, the 1934 collection was considerably downsized from 239 cards to just 96 but still presents some of the final cards of several stars and Hall of Famers issued during their playing days, Lou Gehrig (twice-featured) and Dizzy Dean foremost among them, as nationally distributed baseball cards would all but vanish from American culture for the remainder of the decade. Also included in the set are key issues of Hank Greenberg and Jimmie Foxx, which ranks as one of the most collected cards of the entire decade, as well as fourteen additional Hall of Famers. This collection is complete and rates 15% VG/EX or better, 30% VG, 30% G/VG and 25% lower with six key PSA graded cards: #23 Gehringer PSA 5, 19 Grove PSA 4, and PSA 3 cards of #6 Dean, 12 Hubbell, 37 Gehrig and 90 Cuyler. Other key cards are #1 Foxx POOR, 2 Cochrane POOR, 10 Klein VG, 11 P. Waner VG+, 13 Frisch VG/EX, 18 Manush VG, 21 Terry GOOD, 22 Vaughan G/VG, 27 Appling GOOD, 34 Hafey VG/EX, 35 Lombardi VG, 61 Gehrig POOR/GOOD, 62 Greenberg VG, 94 Rolfe VG/EX+ and 96 DeShong POOR.
