The era in which Goudeys were issued contained many legendary characters of the baseball diamond, and Dizzy Dean ranks as one of the most colorful. Dean was one of the best pitchers of his day, and if not for injury, would be considered one of the greatest of all time. In his five full seasons, Dean won 20 or more games four times, including 30 wins in his great 1934 World Series championship season. This is Dean's first card and was issued just prior to Dean's ascent to greatness. This offered example has been graded by SGC 80 EX/NM 6 and displays radiant pastel color, white, evenly-spaced borders, a crisp image and four square corners that exhibit the lightest of touches. Overall, a stunning example of this HOF pitcher's rookie card.
