The list of players in the very high-numbered cards of the 1933 Goudey set reads like a never-ending list of immortal Hall of Famers, but the leader of the pack when it comes to trying to complete a NM/MT quality set is card #223 Dizzy Dean. An incandescent sea of lime-green grass and storm-blue sky provide the backdrop for a finely honed image of the leader of the celebrated "Gashouse Gang" finishing his wind-up, steely eyes transfixed on the target. This keepsake boasts adequate centering for the issue, slightly favoring the bottom edge, with well-formed mid to high-end NM/MT corners. The trademark green text on the reverse is more than sufficient, boldly contrasting with the off-white canvas. One of the most elusive high-grade specimens that doesn't portray Ruth, Gehrig or Foxx.
