Just about any vintage collector would make it a priority to own a complete 1933 Goudey set, but with four Babe Ruth cards, two Gehrigs and a list of Hall of Famers that never seems to end, only the really well-financed can do so in mid-grade or better condition. This complete set (minus #106 Lajoie, which most collectors don't consider essential for completion) is in the lower grades, making it more attainable for the modest collector, but the actual appearance of the cards is extremely respectable with the vast majority retaining their bold color. Many of the key cards are graded by SGC, including the quartet of Babe Ruth cards (#53 Yellow Ruth SGC 40 VG 3, 144 Full Body Ruth SGC 10 POOR 1, 149 Red Ruth SGC 40 VG 3 and 181 Green Ruth SGC POOR 1) and both Gehrigs (#92 SGC 35 GOOD+ 2.5 and 160 SGC 45 VG+ 3.5) as well as 154 Foxx SGC 20 FAIR 1.5, 220 Grove SGC 30 GOOD 2, 223 Dean SGC 20 FAIR 1.5 and 230 Hubbell SGC 60 EX 5. Other key cards are #1 Bengough POOR, 2 Vance GOOD, 20 Terry G/VG, 29 Foxx POOR, 89 Speaker GOOD+, 119 Hornsby G/VG, 127 Ott GOOD, 188 Hornsby G/VG+, 211 Wilson VG, 229 Vaughan VG, 234 Hubbell VG and 240 Schumacher VG/EX. The rest of the set is 15% VG/EX or better, 40% VG and 45% lower.
