The biggest name in the 1933 DeLong series after Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx was poised to challenge "The Iron Horse" in supplanting Babe Ruth as the premier player in baseball. The reigning American League Most Valuable Player, "The Beast" would successfully defend his crown in 1933, posting 106 homers, 332 RBI and batting .360 over the two seasons combined. Foxx's 415 home runs and 1403 RBI led the decade of the 1930s, easily outpacing Gehrig (347 and 1360) and raising questions as to whether Foxx could overtake The Babe as the all-time home run king. This near perfectly framed PSA 8 example of Jimmie Foxx's 1933 DeLong card is matched by just 8 others on the PSA population report with no specimens graded higher, and it's hard to imagine any of those others stacking up this one in terms of aesthetics. Each corner easily meets NM/MT standards and one might argue that at least two, maybe three, could challenge the next grading tier. The surface colors, a hallmark of the coveted DeLong series, are well-preserved and show no evidence of fading while the typically toned reverse carries bold, crisp black print that appears factory fresh. To call this beauty spectacular really doesn't do it justice!
