Just like every other team in 1927, the Washington Senators fell short of wrestling the American League pennant from the "Murderer's Row" New York Yankees. But featuring a squad that offered legendary pitcher Walter Johnson and a Hall of Fame outfield of Tris Speaker, Goose Goslin and Sam Rice, the Senators still scored an impressive 85 wins. The featured sphere is one of the few surviving OAL (Johnson) baseballs, signed by 26 members of the Washington Senators. Tris Speaker shares the sweet spot with Buddy Dear, and Walter Johnson's clean, bold signature is to the left of the stamp. Goslin and Rice appear to the right of the stamp, with signings by Judge, Schacht, Bluege, Altrock, McNeeley, Lisenbee, Braxton, Ruel, Tate, Rigney, Burke, Reeves, Hadley, Marberry, Berger, Onslow, Crowder, Thurston, Harris, and two others. LOA from JSA.
