According to the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, the 1927 Middy Bread die-cut series features 22 cards each from the St. Louis Browns and St.Louis Cardinals but they clearly state that the 44-card compilation was not confirmed and subject to future additions. Well here's one of those additions, a previously uncatalogued example of 229-game winner Sam Jones, who only spent one season in St.Louis over his 22-year career. Without any significant tears or breaches, other than the usual crease above the Middy Bread nameplate, the card appears to be in the VG/EX to EX range, a high grade for any card in this delicate series but especially alluring for a recently discovered item.
