Graded EX/MT 6 by PSA. Utilizing the format and copy that is more familiar to the 1915/16 Sporting News cards, the Heroplsheimer Clothing Store of Grand Rapids, Michigan issued these eclectic and exceptionally scarce cards in 1916. The offered card of Shoeless Joe Jackson is the one and only example that has been graded by PSA and as such the highest graded. The image of Jackson wielding what appears to be the legendary lumber known as “Black Betsy” graces the obverse of this card highlighted by a defining expertly focused portrayal of the tragic baseball hero. A light enamel like gloss encompasses the surface of the card allowing the image to almost glisten. The central context of the card is well situated on the card and the four corners stand up to the rendered grade each possessing traits of a loftier grading tier. The top to bottom centering may possibly exceed the technical requirements of the Near Mint grade although the card stands tall in its offered holder. The reverse is well printed with no evidence of any staining or disturbances. A stunning card offered in outstanding EX/MT condition.
