"Prince Hal" Chase was widely viewed as not only the best fielding first baseman of his era, but lauded by immortals such as Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson as the top player ever at his position. In essence, Chase was the first true star of the New York Yankees franchise, when they were known as the Highlanders. Though a Hall of Fame caliber talent, the legacy of Hal Chase will forever be tarnished by allegations of gambling on games and engaging in suspicious play to throw games, events that got him blackballed from professional baseball. But that doesn't stop Hal Chase's baseball cards from being highly collectible, and the featured 1915 Cracker Jack piece is one of the finest to bear his name. One of just 4 copies that has been graded MINT 9 by SGC, the near perfect centering and absolutely pristine surfaces, ivory white with deep red color on the back and bold black print on the reverse, are paired with four near perfect endpoints, easily earning the MINT assessment. A stunning card offered at the very top end of the opined grade.
