Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. "You can write him down as one of the two models of ball-playing grace," Grantland Rice wrote of the "Grey Eagle." "The other was Napoleon Lajoie. Neither ever wasted a motion or gave you any sign of extra effort...They had the same elements that made a Bobby Jones or the Four Horsemen of Notre Dame -- the smoothness of a summer wind." Of the thirty three examples of this card that have been graded by PSA the offered example shares the NM/MT distinction with 4 other examples and none have graded higher. A flawlessly centered image is present with a deeply defined image of the great ballplayer staring out to the enthralled enthusiast. Each of the four corners project minimally at the NM/MT level approaching a higher classification. The surface is an unfazed field that shows no evidence of handling, while the reverse is a precise unstained palate that completes this miniature masterpiece. Offered in truly astounding and delightful NM/MT condition.
