The presented example of Joe Tinker's challenging 1914 Cracker Jack issue has been graded PSA 8 NM/MT and is one of just 2 examples that have ever attained this elite status from the Newport Beach grading authority, as none have ever graded higher. Unlike the majority of our ultra high-grade 1914 CJ singles from our break-up of the hobby's #1 current and all-time finest PSA Set Registry, however, this near perfectly preserved Tinker shows a fairly even, but obviously not overwhelming, dosage of light caramel stains. This characteristic feature lends the card a delightfully elevated sense of authenticity, since most examples produced and inserted into boxes could be found with the same exact quality, helping to further differentiate 1914 examples from the similarly designed cards issued the following year. While the offered example shows some tolerable stains that can be found on most examples across the grading spectrum, it showcases a self-evident print quality that far surpasses all other expectations. So magnificently bold and impressive is the central image, in fact, that it's a small wonder the card wasn't mistakenly consumed with the handfuls of candied popcorn with which it came into circulation. Rounding out its expected high-grade qualities, we find sharp MINT to GEM MINT edges between NM/MT+ corners around a mildly left-centered image of the famed Chicago second baseman.
