Graded EX 5 by PSA. Upon inspection of the offered collectible, the iconic image of Joe Jackson, one of the most captivating personas in not only Baseball history but in American history comes to the very forefront of the thought process. At that point a hobbyist then comes to appreciate the almost mythical image of “Shoeless Joe” set against a scintillating red background so commonly associated with the Cracker Jack issue. It is only upon closer inspection that even the most ardent and advanced of collectors comes to the realization that the offered pasteboard is not just a Cracker Jack Joe Jackson from the more commonly (make no mistake its not very common at all) offered 1915 issue but this card lays claim to having the privilege of being issued with the much scarcer and difficult 1914 issue. The card itself hails as one of the finest examples of this card that we have ever had the pleasure of offering. Held inside antique creamy white borders is the eye captivating and imagination conjuring image of Joe Jackson set against a bold desire invoking red background. The shadowing upon Joe’s uniform as well as the flesh tones apparent in his face lend a human touch to the man who was ushered from the game with a lifetime ban for his involvement in throwing the 1919 World Series. The four corners project at a much stronger level than usually encountered with subjects from the ever fragile 1914 Cracker Jack issue, each of the corners reveals mildly rounded corners that gives a defining vintage feel to this exceptionally difficult card. The reverse is well printed with a boldly inked bio and an assuring level of caramel remnants lending credibility to its un-tampered status. A pillar of a sports card within our hobby offered in EX condition and coming with our utmost of a recommendation.
