This 5 1/4 inch square flannel, classified as a B18 blanket, was issued in 1914 and wrapped around several different brands of tobacco. They were called "blankets" because they were often sewn together to create a blanket. While almost always frayed on the edges or have washed out color, this example of Ty Cobb's "white infield" variation has stood up well over time. Though centered toward the third base line, there is very little overall fraying and the central color is magnificent though some moderate staining is present on the white area of cloth. Overall, this is a high grade specimen compared to most from the collection and a nice piece to add to a Ty Cobb collection.
