Between all of the legendary turn of the century ballplayers and a seemly endless run of various national and regional issues, from T206s to caramel cards to Cracker Jacks and plenty of others in between, there are two particular standouts that, when matched together, reign as one of the most enticing and important issues ever produced; Ty Cobb and the T3 Turkey Red set. Presented before you is unquestionably the grand prize for any 1911 T3 Turkey Red collector, a specimen so stunning as to define the advanced status of any collection and immediately vault it to the level of world-class. This museum-quality example of one of the most recognized baseball cards in the hobby has but 9 superiors on the PSA pop report. Though the grade is obviously impressive, it certainly lags behind the overall eye appeal that this masterpiece has to offer. Most T3's, even at this elevated grade level, experience significant chipping on the perimeter and mild to moderate rounding at the endpoints, but not here. Any flaking around the sturdy perimeter is minimal and negligible while the endpoints still retain a very sharp and squared appearance. The central image, a wondrous presentation in line with an oil painting by Rembrandt or Picasso, is perfectly delivered without fault and fills the canvas with bold yet soft pastels and a deep field of green grass color to support the always stoic if not downright ornery image of the incredible baseball legend, seemingly daring you to try to toss the pill past him. The reverse shows some mild print and age spots scattered across the lightly toned surface, providing a friendly reminder that this amazing piece, for all it's splendor, is still well over a century old. Befitting of any and every top-ranked collector, this is a truly special piece that is sure to increase the status of any collection!
