Every advanced collector knows the story of the T206 Honus Wagner card, and the accepted rationale behind its scarceness being that he didn't want to be associated with the tobacco industry. Perhaps Wagner had a change of heart or just stopped "fighting the good fight" at some point as here he is, "The Flying Dutchman" on this T216 Kotton Cigarettes issue, graded SGC 1.5 FAIR. The card is extremely well-centered for the issue and delivers a delightfully colorful presentation of Wagner in his batting stance, supported by a deep red backdrop. Mostly VG to VG/EX characteristics is tempered by the horizontal crease across his image. The reverse is pleasing, delivering a robust advertisement for Kotton Cigarettes, a branch of People's Tobacco of New Orleans.
