Graded SGC 84 NM 7. Presented is one of the hobby's finest graded examples of Hal Chase's challenging 1910 E93 Standard Caramel issue, one of the single scarcest cards from this classic caramel set to encounter in top grades. To the date of this composition, the offered NM 7 example from SGC reports just one like it and one higher on record with the Parsippany-based grading firm, with one like and one higher over at PSA as well. Near perfect centering, bone-white borders, and surreal color preservation are the obvious highlights to this pleasantly incandescent, lemon-yellow-backed gem. Wisps of NM to NM/MT wear to each of the corners appears to be the only grade-appropriate feature, as the edges and both surfaces appear at least in the NM/MT range, if not higher. The obverse shows a touch of toning in the bottom portion of the bright yellow backdrop, as well as some scattered but mostly negligible print, neither of which severely detract from the surprisingly bold and precise image of third-ever New York Yankee Captain, preceded by Kid Elberfeld and followed by Roger Peckinpaugh and Babe Ruth. Importantly, there are no traces of print or spotting anywhere throughout Hal's brilliant denim blue cap, easily the most susceptible area for this very common E93 characteristic. Virtually phosphorescent in its marvelous state of preservation, this stately high-grade caramel relic will be a "prince" in any collection!
