Graded PSA 8 NM/MT, this is an extremely high-end example of Hall of Famer Rube Waddell's T206 "Portrait" variation. Though not part of PSA's Piedmont-specific pop report, the offered specimen joins just 9 competitors on the "Unregistered Back" database and matches 2 recorded on the Piedmont population, with a lone specimen graded a half-point higher. While beautifully sharp NM/MT to NM/MT+ corners are the basis for the PSA's lofty assessment, the striking image of the St. Louis legend and the accompanying deep blast of blue background color are simply captivating. The dead-perfect centering is the final component that makes this one of the finest specimens in existence. A card with virtually no flaws that likely will never be matched again by the increasingly strict graders at PSA. Any world-class set would benefit from the addition of this prize!
