Just like 1933 Goudey collectors have their personal favorite among the four different Babe Ruth cards, T206 enthusiasts are divided over which of the Ty Cobb quartet is at the top of their list. While the red and green background portraits, along with the yellow and orange tinged "bat on shoulder" variation, are firmly established as iconic issues from the expansive series, it's the "bat off shoulder" card with its myriad of rich color and precise imagery that wins the day for many collectors. The featured card rates among the very finest in existence, an SGC 88 NM/MT 8 beauty that has undoubtedly earned its high accolades. The centering is outstanding for the series and the corners and edges stand up well to NM/MT qualifications, but its the incredible delivery of the central image that really seals the deal, offering a perfect presentation of "The Georgia Peach" in his charcoal gray uniform, supported by clean pigments of blue, brown, orange, pink, purple, then blue again, and green. There are few, if any, in the T206 series that can match up aesthetically with the "bat off shoulder" Cobb. And even fewer that can compare to this prize, even at that this grade level!
