Pictured as a member of Connie Mack’s 1909 Philadelphia Athletics team, Jackson was quick to wear out his welcome as somewhat of a rube and only played a total of nine games with the A’s. Mack shipped Jackson to Cleveland for the light hitting Bris Lord and set in motion one of the most storied (good and bad) careers in Baseball history. In Cleveland his teammates were able to overlook his quirks and educational liabilities allowing Joe to fully concentrate and ply his immense talents the likes of which allowed him to bat an amazing .408 in his first full season of 1911. The featured pasteboard although somewhat rough in technical grade does allow enthusiasts a well-imaged rendition of the great player before his tragic demise. Four moderate to heavily rounded corners frame the image that is shifted to the right. The card displays several areas of creasing most notably to the upper right corner and down the left side. The card does display an overall strong attention to detail and focus with the all important red of the lips just slightly above the denoted area of placement. In conclusion a captivating card that with its opined grade offers hobbyists a great introspect into one of the more enigmatic American personas.
